Both countries share a very close relationship under the 1950 Indo-Nepal Treaty of Peace and Friendship and there is strong people to people ties, however in recent years the relationship has seen some frictions owing to the China Card being played by Nepali politicians and growing closeness of Nepal-China relationship and anti-India feelings in Nepal following the 2015 Nepal Blockade.
