Gulf of Mannar Marine National Park is a part of the Gulf of Mannar Biosphere Reserve, it is located in the state of Tamil Nadu. It is a group of 21 islands/islets and spreads along 560 Km stretch between Rameswaram and Tuticorin.
Many globally endangered species like the Dugong (sea cow) and six endemic mangrove species are conserved through this Marine National Park. However, the Biosphere conservation is becoming increasingly difficult because of the Dynamite fishing, Mechanised fishing boats, danger of fishing nets hauling un-targeted marine population and Coral Population, and excessive harvesting of fish.
