Cyclones in Indian waters – IAS Synopsis
Excerpt/ Sample:
India is one of the countries that is most vulnerable to natural disasters such as floods, droughts, earthquakes, cyclones, and landslides. Generally, Bay of Bengal is a more cyclone prone region as compared to the Arabian Sea, because of a number of reasons like it receives more rainfall and has slow breezes that maintain temperatures reasonably warm all year: about 28 degrees, warm air currents contribute to the development of cyclones by raising the surface temperature; but the frequency of “very severe cyclonic storms” has increased in recent years over the Arabian Sea.
