Plant Anatomy is the study of internal structure and organization of tissues in a plant.
A plant is made of different kinds of tissues, these can be divided into two types based on whether they are capable of dividing or not –
1. Meristematic Tissue
These undergo active cell division. Such tissues present at root and shoot tip are called apical meristems. During formation of leaves and stem elongation, some cells get left behind from shoot apical meristem, these are axillary buds. Axillary buds are present in axil of leaves and are capable of giving rise to a new branch or flower.
