Nilgiris – IAS Synopsis
Excerpt/ Sample:
The Nilgiris are a range of mountains spread across the borders among the states of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala. The Nilgiri Hills are a part of one of the India’s biodiversity hotspots, the Western Ghats. The highest point of the Nilgiri hills is the mountain of Doddabetta with height 2,637 m.
Nilgiri has a cooler and wetter climate than the surrounding plains, due to its elevation, making it a good place for tea cultivation. The Nilgiris receives rain during both the Southwest Monsoon and the Northeast Monsoon.
