The Mauryan Empire consisted of almost all of India geographically. The Mauryan Empire was formed around 321 B.C. and ended in 185 B.C.
The Mauryan Empire was founded by Chandragupta Maurya and was based in Magadha. The capital city was located at Pataliputra (modern Patna). Chandragupta Maurya with the assistance of Chanakya, (author of Arthasastra) raised an army and overthrew the Nanda Empire in 322 BC.
