Chandrayaan Mission
- Chandrayaan-1 (launched 2008) Discovered the presence of water on the surface of the Moon and turned a new chapter in the world’s understanding of Moon. (Phase I – Orbiter)
- Chandrayaan-2 (launched 2019) which consisted of an Orbiter, Lander and Rover, was all equipped with scientific instruments to study the moon. (Phase II- Soft Lander and Rover)
- a part of the mission failed as the Vikram lander crash-landed on the lunar surface.
- Chandrayaan-3 is planned to be launched by mid 2023 (under Phase II – Soft Lander and Rover)
- Phase III (on site sampling)
Solar Mission
- Aditya-L1 is India’s first dedicated scientific mission to study the sun.
- Meant to observe only the solar corona.
