Sakas – IAS Synopsis

Excerpt/ Sample:

The Indo – Scythians or Sakas invaded northwest India in the first century BC onwards. The Sakas were a group of Iranian nomadic pastoral tribes.

Maues/Moga was first Saka king of India who established Saka power in Gandhara, and Indus Valley. The Sakas conquered the Indo – Greeks and other local kingdoms and established their empire in North Western India. They were apparently subjugated by the Kushan Empire, by either Kujula Kadphises or Kanishka. Yet the Saka continued to govern as satrapies, forming the Northern Satraps and Western Satraps.
